Welcome to the website of the European Football Fan Census!
Thank you for your willingness to participate in our survey. Below we present basic information concerning the survey form and how we process information obtained from respondents.
The survey is carried out by the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw within a scientific grant, ‘Perception of football rivalries by football fans: a comparative analysis of the Visegrad Group (Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia)’ financed by the National Science Centre, (2018/30/M/HS6/00866). Our purpose is to understand how fans of men’s football clubs from Central and Eastern Europe determine the meaning of individual rivals and the motivations behind their choices. We are very pleased to inform you that our study has received the patronage of the Polish Football Association and Ekstraklasa SA.
Participation in the survey is voluntary and anonymous. The results obtained will be used to prepare scientific publications which will help to better understand the phenomenon of football rivalries.
During the survey, we will ask questions concerning the football club you support and the teams which you perceive as the most important rivals of your club. The average time required to fulfil the survey is about 4 minutes. You may stop completing the survey at any time by closing the website. It is necessary to click the ‘Submit’ button after answering all questions to successfully save your answers in the database.
At the end of the survey, we will ask a question about your basic demographic data, such as gender, age, education or place of residence – due to this, we will be able to create a map of football rivalries in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
During the survey, we do not collect any personal data or information that allows for the identification of the survey participants. After sending answers, each person taking part in the survey has the possibility to voluntarily provide their e-mail address if they want to participate in future in-depth surveys concerning football rivalries carried out at the University of Warsaw.
